Caesars Sportsbook Launches Universal Digital Wallet in Nevada

Caesars Sportsbook declared on Thursday that its mobile app now offers a universal digital wallet for Nevadan gamblers, allowing customers from other states to place bets using their phones while in the state.

When visiting the Silver State, gamblers will be able to manage and check their account statuses and Caesars Rewards points in one location thanks to the Nevada wallet, according to the gambling business.  In 19 additional US states—Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia, and Wyoming—Cacers Sportsbook currently offers wallet functionality.

"With this update, users in Nevada can experience added convenience, with all funds and rewards immediately visible and available after logging in. Caesars plans to add universal wallet functionality to more North American jurisdictions where it offers mobile sports wagering in the future,” according to a press release.

The announcement came eleven months after rival BetMGM revealed enhanced digital wallet features that let Nevada customers to easily access the platform when they visit other jurisdictions where the operator places bets.

There are a few minor inconveniences with Caesar's Nevada plan

Convenience is the main factor behind the popularity of mobile betting.  In the majority of states, bettors can use their computers or smartphones to create and fund accounts. Once the money has been placed and cleared, they can start betting right away.

Nevada, on the other hand, is an exception to this rule, requiring new mobile betting accounts to be registered in person. This means that bettors who wish to use their smartphones to place bets in the state must go to a land-based casino and complete the necessary paperwork.

The Nevada digital wallet improvements made by Caesars Sportsbook do not circumvent that rule.  Instead, the gaming business made it plain that account holders from other states who wish to activate their accounts while in Nevada must go to a Caesars-operated brick-and-mortar casino in order to do so, therefore embracing what is undoubtedly the state's foolishness.

Many people believe that Nevada's requirement for in-person registration stands in the way of the state's wider acceptance of mobile sports betting.  In terms of sports betting gross gaming revenue (GGR), such rule is also thought to have acted as a stimulus for other jurisdictions, like nearby Arizona, to overtake Nevada.

On the plus side

There is some good news for Caesars Sportsbook customers who live outside of Nevada and are annoyed by the in-person activation requirement.  Out-of-state gamblers can activate their mobile accounts at many of the sportsbooks operated by Caesars Entertainment, the second-largest operator on the Las Vegas Strip.

There are numerous choices for travelers who are Caesars Sportsbook customers to activate their accounts for their trips to Nevada because the business also operates five locations in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area and two more casinos in Laughlin.
