iGaming Ontario today reported consistent year-over-year growth in the province’s competitive igaming sector – CAD $82.7 billion in total bets and CAD $3.2 billion in gross gaming earnings for the fiscal year 2024/25.
The report addressed the financial year spanning from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, marking the regulated market's third complete year. The Ontario igaming market launched on April 4, 2022.
"These results show Ontario is home to a truly dynamic igaming market with a strong roster of operators, and a world-class list of games available for players,” said Heidi Reinhart, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“With 49 operators offering 84 gaming sites, Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow by offering a safer environment for Ontarians to play.”
The overall count of wagers (excluding promotional bets or bonuses) marked a 31% rise compared to 2023-24. Total gaming revenue saw a 32% rise compared to 2023-24. This figure illustrates the overall cash bets, encompassing rake fees, tournament fees, and other charges, for all operators, player earnings from cash bets, and excludes operating expenses or other liabilities.
An IPSOS study commissioned by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (the third annual IPSOS study) revealed that 83.7% of Ontarians opted for regulated sites (over the previous three months when surveyed), while 16.3% of participants reported betting on unregulated websites.
Significantly, the figure from last year’s IPSOS study at the two-year point for the sector was 86.4% (with 13.6% reporting that they placed bets on unregulated sites).
Prior to the introduction of Ontario’s open and regulated market in 2022, it was estimated that 70 percent of online gambling took place on unregulated platforms.
Casino remains the leading force in the igaming sector within the province – CAD $69.6 billion in overall bets (34% rise compared to 2023-24), with wagering (covering sports betting, esports, proposition, novelty bets, and exchange betting) at CAD $11.4 billion (17% growth) and peer-to-peer poker at CAD $1.7 billion (2% growth).
In terms of gaming revenue breakdown, casino revenue reached CAD $2.4 billion for the year (up 36%), while betting amounted to CAD $724 million (up 23%) and P2P poker remained at CAD $66 million (unchanged from 2023-24).
